AMERICAN EAVESDROPPING: ‘Revelations on spying on France by American NSA



“Some 70.3 million calls were recorded [in France] between December 10, 2012 and January 8, 2013,” reports Le Monde, which “has obtained some of the documents provided by the former agent” of the NSA Edward Snowden.
Given the “massive interception of telephone communications between French citizens,” the French daily calls for a response from authorities in the country —
In the UK and Germany, the discovery of the siphoning of personal data by the NSA, as well as the involvement of the country’s secret services prompted a heated debate. We can only hope that the same will be true of France. And that the European Union takes charge of the matter.
On October 21, the French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius summoned the US ambassador to Paris to demand an explanation.
