Magnus Carlsen went sjokktap
16-year-old Anish Giri from the Netherlands applied the Norwegian chess genius Magnus Carlsen a real sjokktap Monday - after only 22 moves.
Dagbladet.no writes that Carlsen played with white pieces, and that he opened the tournament in the Netherlands with two draws games before Monday's sjokktap.
On his Twitter account Carlsen can not help but be a little galgenhumoristisk after their divorce.
- It's always nice to get confirmation that I am still able to poke away a piece on a move, writes Carlsen.
The new chess genius Giri Nepalese father and Russian mother. He was born in St. Petersburg but has lived in the Netherlands over the past two years. He became a grandmaster at 14-year-old, writes dagbladet.no.
It is also clear that Magnus Carlsen has lost its top spot in world rankings after the first three matches in the Netherlands.
